Feng Shui for the New Year

Asian culture, as well as many others, look to the New Year as a very important time to make significant changes in their lives. The purpose of feng shui is to create the most optimal environment possible in order to provide a foundation for positive energy flow in your life. One thing that feng shui has taught me well is to embrace change. When done properly, feng shui helps propel you towards life experiences that are always bigger and better. Below I’ve outlined some very important steps to help you make this year your best yet.

1. Let go of what no longer serves you. It can be people, places, or things that have ceased to bring you joy. Sometimes relationships, places, and things that once held joy and meaning lose their luster and even become detrimental to our well-being.
In order to have healthy, loving relationships, you must heal or end toxic relationships with partners, friends, or family members. While this process can be painful, it is also one of the healthiest things you can do for your continued growth and well-being.
Your affinity with places can change too. Homes and environments where you may have once felt happy and comfortable may now make you feel stagnant, uneasy and frustrated. Any constant feeling of discomfort, whether it is with a specific person or place, signifies that a change is necessary in order to feel happier and more fulfilled.
Objects that you once loved may now be just taking up space and cluttering up your home and your life. If you don’t need it, want it, or love it, toss it!
2. Space clear your home. All the feng shui in the world won’t help if your space has
old, stuck residual energy. Over time, buildings absorb and radiate the energy of people or events that have taken place there. An indicator of stuck energy is feeling uneasy, drained, exhausted, unfocused or depressed when you’re in a particular space. It is very hard to move forward in your life when you are surrounded by stuck or negative energy in your home or workplace. Fortunately you can shift that energy by performing a space clearing.

Start Your Year off Right with Feng Shui

The New Year  is a time for letting go of the old and making way for the new. It is a time of cleansing, healing, and hope. In order to start the year off right, we must assess what is and is not working in our lives, let go of what no longer serves us, cleanse our own energy and the energy in our homes, and put forth our intention for the year to come. Here are four very important steps that will help you make 2016 your best year yet!

Step One: Assessment
When beginning a new year it’s important to step back and assess what is and is not working in your life and make adjustments accordingly. My Life Assessment Inventory was created to help you determine areas of your life that you’d like to improve, and lets you know the part of the home to enhance to help support those areas. Life is dynamic and changes all the time. The answers to provide today will most likely be different than ones you may have had in the past, and those you will have in the future. The Life Assessment Inventory gives you a snapshot of where you are in your life right now and helps you move forward in the right direction. Click Here to take the Inventory.
Step Two: Letting Go of What No Longer Serves You
There’s no time better for getting rid of what no longer serves you than the beginning of a new year. While most people don’t relish the idea of spending time cleaning out cupboards, closets, and the garage, everyone can pretty much agree that it feels incredible once the task is done. In order to make way for the new, we must remove the old. In feng shui, clutter represents stuck energy and postponed decisions.

Feng Shui for Abundance

Not surprisingly, abundance is an aspect of life that almost all of my clients wish to concentrate on during their home or business appointments. While feng shui can assist with energy flow and stress reduction, it (unfortunately) can’t solve all our problems or undo poor decision making and choices. That said, there are ways to increase the positive energy in your home or business in order to make the most of the energy that is available to bring abundance into your space. The rest is up to you!

Here are eleven things you can do to help align your surroundings for greater abundance.
1. Get Rid of Clutter
We all know the feeling of lightness and joy that de-cluttering can bring. In order to free up the energy in your space, get rid of anything that you don’t want, love, need, or use. When you hold onto an object you no longer use “just in case” you may need it some day, you are energetically telling the Universe that you don’t trust it to take care of you. If you need that object later, you can always get another one. For now, toss it, donate it, or gift it.
2. Live Abundantly
Drink your tea or coffee out of a beautiful cup in the morning to start your day off with luxury. Go to a discount home store and purchase the fluffiest bath towel you can find. When you get out of the tub or shower each day you are going to enjoy the sensuous luxury a towel like that brings. This will help you create the mindset of deserving, accepting, and welcoming more luxury and abundance into your life.
3. Create a Vision Board and an Affirmation for Abundance
Vision Boards are incredibly effective when done correctly. Make a vision board of all the items that remind you of having abundance in your life and hang it some place where you can see it every day. Work on saying, “I welcome, accept, and deserve positive abundance in my life.” This way you’re not limiting the way abundance comes to you, but you are making sure that the abundance you are drawing in is positive. You don’t want to draw in an abundance of negative, so be specific!
4. Fix Things that are Broken
When items aren’t working properly they create stress and frustration in our lives. Repair or replace anything that needs to be improved and feel the difference in your life as things move more smoothly.
5. Invite Nature into Your Home
Flowers, plants, pretty stones, etc. all remind us of the abundance found in nature. Don’t forget to spend some time each day outdoors appreciating the abundance that nature provides us.
6. Practice Gratitude Every Day
In my opinion, this is the most important thing of all. Make sure to start and end your day by appreciating five things that you are grateful for. Gratitude puts you in a state of “having” rather than lacking and creates energy to bring more into your life to be grateful for.
7. Conduct a Space Clearing on Your Home
Chapter 9 in my book explains in detail how to conduct a space clearing. It is vital to remove old energy from your space to allow fresh energy to come in. You can purchase the space clearing energy chimes by clicking here.
