How to Figure out the Numerology of your Home
This is an excerpt from my book, Feng Shui that Makes Sense. No material may be copied or used without written permission.
In most cases, what you will need to start with is the numbers in your home address (we’ll get to addresses with letters in just a second). When we practice numerology, we always add the numbers up until we get to a single digit. For example, if an address is4371 Main Street, we would add the numbers in that address like this:
4+3+7+1=15 Since 15 is a double digit number, we have to add the two numbers that make up 15 until we reduce it to a single number. In this case, 1+5=6. The Numerology for this home would vibrate to the energy of the Number 6. Let’s do another one:
86247 Bancroft Street breaks down this way: 8+6+2+4+7=27. Since the answer is a two digit number, we again add these numbers together 2+7=9 and we get the single number 9. This home would vibrate to the energy associated with number 9. Pretty simple, huh?
Addresses with Letters
Now let’s talk about a home that has a letter either for or in addition to, a numerical address. Apartments and condos frequently fall into this category. Each letter has a corresponding number in Numerology. By checking the chart below you can figure out the numerology of an apartment. What you are going to do is find the letter you are looking for and the number that corresponds to that letter in the chart.
If you live in an apartment building, you most likely have an address that is associated with the entire building and then your own personal apartment number. For example, say you live at 206 West Elm Street, Apartment 3B. In this case we are going to pay the most attention to the 3B because this is the number that is unique to your particular space. The 206 part of the address will apply to the entire building. In this case 2+0+6=8. The building itself with have an overall influence of the qualities corresponding to the number 8, however it is your individual apartment number that is going to have the strongest influence on your life experience while you live there. In this case 3B vibrates to the number 5. How did I arrive at the number 5? By finding the letter B in the chart below, you will see that the letter B corresponds to the energy of the number 2. When we add the number 3 to the letter B(2), we arrive at the sum of 5. In this case, the apartment would be influenced by the qualities that relate to the number 5. So instead of being concerned with the entire address, you are really going to want to focus on the number that is unique to your apartment, condo or unit. Here’s another one:
432 Orange Ave. Apt. 6G. In this case, we need to figure out the numerology of apartment 6G. As we can see below, the letter G corresponds to the number 7. So the apartment 6G would break down this way: 6+G (7) =13. Since we ended up with 13, we need to add the 1 and 3 together so we will arrive at a single number. 1+3=4, so this apartment would vibrate to the energies associated with the number 4. Do you get the picture? It’s really fun to explore this subject and to go back through all the addresses where you have lived and see if your experience in that home mirrored the associations of the Numerology of that particular address.

Addresses with Repeating Numbers
When an address has a number that repeats, for example:
7221 Maple Street, there will be a secondary influence made by the repeating numbers. In our example, 7221 adds up to a 3 Home in Numerology (7+2+2+1=12, and 1+2=3), this home will mainly vibrate to the energy of the number 3, but will also have a secondary influence of the number 2. Interesting, isn’t it?
Characteristics of each Number
Once you have figured out the single number that corresponds to your address, it’s time to find out what that means. Here are the basic qualities of each number as they correspond to a home address: If your address adds up to:
One homes are great for individuals searching for a fresh start in life. It is a great home for someone who is starting a new venture or someone who would like greater freedom and independence. This number is a number of “never letting anything get you down.” It is an optimistic, hopeful number. It can be a bit difficult for some people to share a one house as each person will tend to want to “do their own thing” rather than work as a team.
Unlike the One Home where the focus is on the individual, the Two Home centers around teamwork and partnership. Often people living in a Two Home will find themselves wanting to settle down in a stable, loving relationship. This is also a number for creativity and beauty. A Two Home is a great home to raise a family as there is great compassion for one another in this home. One thing to be aware of if you are the mother in a Two Home is to take some time out to take care of yourself. Mothers living in Two Homes are often so busy taking care of everyone else that they neglect to take care of their own needs.
Three Homes are great for communicating. Often people living in a Three Home will find themselves talking on the phone, answering emails, and socializing a lot more than in other homes. Sometimes the energy of a Three Home can feel a bit chaotic, so it is important to take some time out from always being on the go.
Four is a number that is concerned with stability and security. When people live in a Four Home they may find the focus of their lives being centered around work and responsibility. A Four Home can manifest itself as a place where either career or commitments take priority over family or social concerns. It is very easy in a Four House to feel like life is “all work and no play”, so it is important to take small trips and to get away from the home in order to relax and enjoy life more.
I like to call the Five House the “Party House”. This is the number for entertaining, socializing, and having fun. It is the house where there is almost a constant stream of activity. It can be fun, but it can also feel too busy and the occupants may find it hard to focus on one thing for very long. Five is the number for change in Numerology, so those that live in a Five Home must be careful not to make snap decisions and regret them later.
Six Homes are wonderful homes for raising a family. This number is associated with children, creativity, beauty and comfort. Often people that raise a family in a home still live in the home after the children have grown and moved away. It is the typical “ancestral home” where happy memories of childhood and family gatherings take root. The emphasis in this home will be creating a place of beauty and comfort.
Seven is known as the “Spiritual” number in Numerology. When people live in a Seven Home they may find themselves more interested in spiritual matters and self-development. Seven is a great number for people that wish to grow spiritually, but as it focuses on the individual’s inner development, it can be a difficult home to share with a partner. People that live in Seven Homes often prefer to be at home rather than go out and socialize. This is a quiet, reclusive number and occupants must be aware of not becoming too isolated while living in a Seven House.
Eight is known as the “Money Number” in Numerology. Does this mean you will make lots of money while you live in an Eight Home? Not necessarily. What the energy of an Eight Home does is focus your attention on money matters. For some people this means they will increase their income dramatically while living in an Eight Home. For others money concerns may take precedence over all other areas. For those living in an Eight Home money will undoubtedly be an important influence while they live there.
Nine is the number of Universal Compassion. People may find themselves getting involved with a charity or organization dedicated to helping others. Nine can also be the number of endings, meaning that often loose ends are tied up and long-term goals come to fruition in a Nine Home. While many things may end while living with the Nine energy, something new begins. There cannot be an ending without a beginning.
Home Numerology gives us an exciting glimpse into the deeper meanings of our homes. It is fun to go back over all the homes you’ve lived in and see how the number may have affected the experiences you had while living there. Numerology is a fascinating subject and will undoubtedly raise your interest in learning more about this interesting topic.
